Suffolk is rich in beautiful countryside. Trails take you along the banks of serene rivers, through woodlands and unspoilt meadows. The area around Clay Hall House  B&B in South Suffolk is made for outdoor enthusiasts, with the chance of spotting deer and a huge variety of butterflies and birds

Walking

The picturesque Stour Valley offers walkers dozens of footpaths, bridleways and byways; one of them starting right outside Clay Hall House in our own private lane 

 

Cycling 

The gently undulating terrain and quiet lanes are perfect for a cycling break, with a number of designated cycle routes. The nearest is a very short ride away from Clay Hall House. We will store your bike safely when you’re not on the road

Wild swimming 

The fresh waters of the rivers in south Suffolk have become popular with wild swimmers, including Dedham Vale, home of Flatford Mill

 

Canoeing, Kayaking and Boat Trips

Amateurs and experts can both enjoy the rivers. The River Stour Trust runs passenger boat  trips, while River Stour Boating runs guided canoe trips. The Outdoor Hire Centre in Sudbury has craft to hire

Fishing 

With its wealth of lakes, rivers and waterways, Suffolk is an angler's paradise, with a range of venues

Golf 

Newton Green is just three miles away from Clay Hall House. Other courses include Hintlesham Hall, Stoke by Nayland, Colne Valley and Brett Vale

Yoga 

There is a full schedule of classes, including pop-ups and drop-ins and a choice of four teachers at the Old School Studio in Long Melford, less than 10 minutes’ drive from Clay Hall House
